Badger Showdown Champs!
Clarkson defeated Lake State 3-2 to take the Pettit Cup and win their first in season tournament since 1994. Nick Dodge tallied his fourth goal of the tournament. Shawn Weller scored to give the Knights their first lead and the game winner was scored by Shea Guthrie. David Leggio stopped 27 shots in the win. Congrats goes out to Kent Huskins '01 who was called up to the NHL by the Anaheim Ducks for his first visit to the NHL on December 22nd. The defenseman already has three games under his belt for the 28-6-6 West leading Ducks, and recorded his first NHL point on the 26th in a victory over San Jose. Clarkson Upends Wisconsin
The Clarkson Golden Knights defeated the Wisconsin Badgers last night 6-2 in front of 13661 fans at the Badger Showdown in Madison, Wisconsin. Nick Dodge recorded the first hat trick for the Knights since Jay Latulippe tallied three goals against Dartmouth in 2004. New Year, New Goalie
Clarkson replaced Matt Smith with Tim Potter of the Oswego Admirals of the OPJHL. Potter has played in 35 games this year and is 12-21-1 with a .900 save percentage and a 3.79 GAA.

New Recruit and 2nd Half Thoughts
According to Chris Heisenberg's website, Clarkson has added defenseman Brent Sullivan from Brockville to the list of 2008 recruits. Sullivan is listed at 6' 2" and 188. Matt Smith Leaves Clarkson
Goaltender Matt Smith is headed for the Quebec Major Juinors. Smith played in one game for the Knights and gave up four goals in a period to the Under 18 Team. Citing lack of playing time, Smith will finish his finals before heading north. Best of luck to Matt in whatever he ends up doing.

Weekend Preview
The Golden Knights enter a crucial five day stretch in which six league points will be up for grab. Friday at Yale the Knights look to upset a surprisingly strong Yale team. Saturday Clarkson takes on an improving Brown team, and of course Tuesday marks the first round of the North Country battle. If Clarkson continues it's play from the past weekend, the games should fall the Knights way.
