Just a reminder that Clarkson Hockey broadcasts are available live at http://hockey.clarkson.edu/. If you're fortunate enough to be in Western NY, unfortunate enough to not be going to Friday's game at RIT, Time Warner Cable 26 will be televising the game! Also be sure to join in on the traditional live chat going on over at the Golden Knights Hockey Roundtable.Lets go tech!
Drop the Puck!
The Clarkson Golden Knights open the 2008-2009 campaign tonight on the road at RIT. Clarkson is coming off a regular season ECAC championship and their first win in the NCAA tournament in 12 years. With the departure of 6 seniors that made up head coach George Roll's best recruiting class the Knights look to reload and remain on top of the ECAC heap. The Clarkson women's squad takes the ice on

"Three Blind Mice!" to be replaced with "Your Fly Is Open!"?
I was going to post about "Clarkson players from years gone by", but felt since the beginning of the season is almost upon us, this topic is more pertinent. The NCAA has implemented a number of changes this year, some of which will cause heads to spin at Cheel and many eyes checked. One thing is certain, faceoffs and discipline will become all-important to bring home a Knight win. 1. 2 Referee

Bring on the Recruits!
If you have been impressed with the recruiting to date by Roll & co., expect not to be disappointed in '09 and on. While the staff cannot comment on any prospective recruits these recruits have been confirmed by Chris Heisenberg or other media sources. (for those that don't know Chris has the most comprehensive listing of hockey recruits for every Division 1 hockey program) Knight fans are aware
A Rough Start
The Golden Knights Men's squad has yet to take the ice this season but already the Knights are shorthanded. Reports are in that senior forward Shea Guthrie has broken a bone in his wrist and will be out for an indeterminate amount of time.On the Women's side the Knights opened up their 2008-2009 season with a trip to Boston College, the Knights were shut out by the Eagles 2-0 on Saturday but

It's been a long offseason... Are you ready for Knight hockey?
The summer is over, and the smell of fall and hockey is here. Many are anticipating the 2008-2009 edition of the Golden Knights with a few questions in hand: Will Guthrie and D'Alvise lead the Knights offensively? Who will be the one to stop all the pucks? Can they make the NCAAs? Is the defense as good as expected?Who will emerge from the talented freshmen class to replace the likes of Dodge

RIT Seats are Moving Fast
Clarkson opens their 2008-2009 campaign on the road at RIT and Niagara. As the Knights look to build upon last season's successes, these early games will prove to be a good barometer of where the team stands after losing a very talented senior class. To help the Knights along the Clarkson Alumni Association has been putting two events together to get a solid Green and Gold crowd at RIT's Ritter

ECAC Coaches and Media Polls
The pre-season polls ECAC were released today, and there seems to be a concensus on who the top four teams and bottom two teams in the league will be. I'm still not sold on a Princeton repeat, but the trend of these polls seems to place alot of weight on the defending champion.Coaches Poll1. PRINCETON (9) 1182. HARVARD (2) 1033. CORNELL (1) 1004. Bold Predictions
Hello hockey fans! CHF is back on the air after a summer that just seemed to melt away. In between innings of Ron rooting for the Red Sox and Brett pulling for the Cubs, we looked at the calendar and realized it's just a month from the start of hockey season, and two months from the start of ECAC play.In the past we have built up, somewhat slowly, our predictions for the league standings.

Crickets & Nick Tremblay
Yes, we pretty much shut it down when the season ended, but that doesn't means we stopped thinking about hockey, we just started storing blog entries in the back of our heads during the summer.I had the fortune of getting to watch incoming Clarkson freshman and NHL draft pick Nick Tremblay over at the Boston Bruins Development Camp in Wilmington, MA a week or so back, and he should be a player

One Step Closer
Despite the score on Saturday night, the Clarkson Golden Knights have nothing to hang their heads about in the 2007-2008 season. The Knights went tape to tape in conference play and locked up their 12th ECAC Regular Season Championship. The Knights also picked up their first tournament win in 12 years and became the first ECAC team not named Cornell to pick up a tournament win since 2000. The

Clarkson leads the nation with 11 shorthanded goals. Denver and Colorado College each have 10. Only two teams in the nation have 0 shorties this year and they are Cornell and Union.A win on Friday will match Clarkson's longest winning streak this year at 4 (OCT 12-OCT 26) and our longest unbeaten streak at 5. I'll need a day.
Just need a deep breath after that rant before I really go into what a spectacular season the Women's team put together, and how the circumstances of today better not overshadow that. Congrats to the women on an outstanding season.
Robbed.
There's not much more than I can say than that. The selection committee will point to the head-to-head results between Dartmouth and Clarkson, but in the end, they've opened a pandora's box and the smoky backroom that college hockey fans have feared in both Men's and Women's Hockey. Clarkson clearly won comparison's in RPI, common opponents and "Teams Under Consideration." The committee clearly

Mercyhurst and Wayne State went to overtime in the CHA Championship this evening with several team's hopes in the balance coming down to the final games of the season. In the end, the Lakers broke a 1-1 tie, giving Mercyhurst the CHA Championship, eliminating Wayne State from NCAA contention. As the PWR stands after this evening's games, Clarkson remains in the #8 spot, with the Mercyhurst win.
ECAC Night Two
Another brief summary of tonight's ECAC action:Colgate 3 - SLU 2Tyler Burton had two goals and an assist as Colgate extended the series to a third game tomorrow at Starr. Golden Knights Rest Up
Following this weekend's offensive explosion, the attitude of the future of this Golden Knights fan significantly improved. Nick Dodge's tip in game winner on Friday and Saturday's shooting gallery proved to me, and maybe to the rest of the league and nation that Clarkson's 8th ranking in the nation is well deserved. However with the past weekend behind us it's time to start to look at who the

A quick update of the Women's PWR after today's games has opened up a Pandora's Box of scenarios for next. Clarkson has flipped comparisons with Connecticut after they were swept by UNH. Clarkson is tied in comparisons with Dartmouth, but loses the RPI tie-breaker with Dartmouth by .0004. Dartmouth will face St. Lawrence next weekend and Clarkson will face Harvard. Now don't hold me to it, but
Dancing of a Different Sort
A quick stick salute to the Clarkson Men's Basketball Team. The team earned their first NCAA Tournament bid yesterday with a 58-53 win over Hamilton in the Liberty League Championship game. With a record of 11-16, Clarkson will clearly be Cinderella at the ball, but clearly have the ability to build on an impressive end of the season run. All eyes will be on the Knights on Monday as their

Marie Jo-Gaudet tallied two goals in the first period and Eve Grandmont-Berube made it stand up as the Golden Knights notched their second win in a row against Princeton 2-1. Your special teams are especially bad and don't get me started on your goaltending.
In hindsight the decision by the Bobcats to have throwback goaltending equipment night this evening was questionable. Clarkson destroys Quinnipiac 8-0. Which you're saying to yourself wow, Clarkson's offense really tore it up and yeah they did. Any team putting up an eight-spot deserve that scratch n' sniff sticker on the jersey at the end of the day. Here's the thing though, they were OUTSHOT 26
A little magic left in the tank.
Ashleigh Moorehead tallied the game-winning goal in overtime to send the Golden Knights to a decisive third and final game tomorrow against Princeton at Cheel Arena. Congrats to the Clarkson Golden Knights this evening as they took care of business against Princeton, coming from behind to win the ECAC Regular Season Title 4-3 at Cheel Arena this evening.
